
Cherry pie made with shortcrust pastry
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Here's a classic recipe for a cherry pie made with shortcrust pastry. You can use any cherries for the pie—just make sure to remove all the pits to avoid breaking your teeth later ;) The baked pie turns out very beautiful and aromatic, perfect with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Sift the flour into a bowl, add the cold butter, grated on a grater.

Rub the flour into the butter to form crumbs. Add salt and 2 tbsp of sugar, as well as 6 tbsp of water. Knead the dough and roll it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 40 minutes.

Let's prepare the filling. Pour 100 ml of water into a saucepan, add the remaining sugar, and boil over low heat. Meanwhile, dissolve the starch in one tablespoon of liquid (boiling).

Add citric acid and pitted, washed cherries to the sugar syrup. Cook together for 5 minutes, then pour in the starch at the end. Stir and cook for another 7-8 minutes until thickened. Then cool the mixture.

Separate half of the dough and roll it out into a flat round. Place it in a baking dish, forming edges. Brush the dough with egg and add the cherry filling.

Roll out the second part of the dough into a flat round and place it on top, sealing the edges. Brush the top with another egg. Bake the pie in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees.
