Cherry kissel

Description

The recipe won't take much time. Cherries are healthy and delicious berries that you can always preserve. By the way, you can make cherry kissel, compote, or even homemade liqueur or infused wine from frozen cherries. What makes cherries especially great is that they give beverages a light yet sweet aroma, so they don't taste overly alcoholic or dominated by other ingredients. Cherry kissel is incredibly easy to make! Try it yourself: 1. First, wash the cherries, remove the stems and pits. If the cherries are ripe, you can easily mash them with a spoon. You may also use a blender for this. Squeeze the pulp thoroughly. 2. Pour the resulting cherry juice into a glass jar, you can even strain it. Cover the jar and place it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. 3. Do not throw away the leftover pulp: pour hot water over it and simmer for 10–15 minutes. Then strain the liquid. 4. Pour the chilled cherry juice into the resulting decoction, add sugar, and mix well. It's best to serve the finished cherry kissel chilled. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your taste—add more if desired.
