Cherry for winter
Description
For our compote, we choose cherries and lime, and we'll definitely add mint. If you prefer, you can remove the mint at the end, but I like the drink's rich flavor, so I leave the mint in. It's best to chill this compote before serving. The drink pairs well with any desserts and baked goods. Keep this recipe in mind—the drink is ready to serve.
Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.

Step 2

Wash the cherries and mint, then dry them.

Step 3

Rinse the lime, dry it, and cut into wedges. You can use lemon instead of lime.

Step 4

Wash the preserving jar thoroughly with baking soda, then rinse well under warm running water. Sterilize the jar and lid using your preferred method—over steam, in the oven, or in the microwave. Place cherries, mint, and lime into the jar.

Step 5

On the stove, bring clean water to a boil, pour the boiling water into a jar, cover the mouth of the jar with a lid, and let it sit for 10 minutes. After that, pour the water back into a saucepan, bring it to a boil again, and return it to the jar. Let it sit undisturbed for another 10 minutes.

Step 6

Finally, pour the compote into a saucepan, add sugar. Boil the compote for a couple of minutes and remove from heat.

Step 7

Return the compote to the jar. If desired, remove the mint. Seal the jar tightly with a sterile lid and turn it upside down. Cover the jar with a warm blanket or towel and leave undisturbed for 24 hours. After this time, transfer the jar to the pantry.
