Cherry Dessert
Description
The dish is easy to prepare without unnecessary complications. You can use either fresh or frozen cherries as a base. The tartness of the cherries is balanced with a delicate and appetizing cream made from cottage cheese and sour cream, with a hint of vanilla flavor. The dessert should have varied textures—besides softness, it needs a crunch, provided by a layer of crumbled shortbread cookies. Overall, this is a well-balanced dessert that both adults and children will enjoy. Serve the finished dessert immediately.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Use pitted cherries.
- 2
Step 2

Place the cherries into a saucepan, add water, two tablespoons of sugar, and starch. I used potato starch, but you can use cornstarch as well. Mix everything and put the saucepan on the stove over low heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring.
- 3
Step 3

Transfer the cottage cheese and sour cream to a separate deep bowl, and add vanilla sugar.
- 4
Step 4

Using an immersion blender, combine the cottage cheese, sour cream, and sugar. The mixture should have a creamy consistency, without lumps.
- 5
Step 5

When the cherries have simmered down and the sauce has thickened, remove the pan from the heat, let the cherries cool slightly, then proceed to assemble the dessert.
- 6
Step 6

Place the cookies in a bag and crush them with a rolling pin until you get crumbs of varying sizes. Alternatively, you can grind the cookies in a kitchen blender.
- 7
Step 7

Prepare the cups. Place the crumbly shortbread as the first layer into the cups—filling one-third of the cup.
- 8
Step 8

Then fill the glasses with cream.
- 9
Step 9

The final layer of the dessert is cherries. This dessert can be served immediately after preparation.
