If you don't have time to make dough from scratch, you can prepare vertuty using ready-made puff pastry. This will significantly speed up the cooking process. Feel free to experiment with the filling—mix in feta or cottage cheese, add boiled eggs and fresh herbs. Here's how to make cheese vertuty: 1. Thaw the puff pastry at room temperature. 2. Roll out the thawed pastry as thinly as possible. 3. Prepare the filling. Grate the cheese coarsely and mix in the eggs. You can add a little pepper and chopped herbs to taste. 4. Spread the filling over the pastry sheets. Roll up the dough tightly into a log, enclosing the filling, and pinch the edges to seal. 5. Place the rolls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, coiling them into large spiral shapes resembling snails. Brush the tops with vegetable oil. 6. Bake the vertuty in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for about 20–25 minutes. I hope you enjoy this simple recipe for cheese vertuty and will use it often. Enjoy your delicious baking! Serve cooled down or slightly warm.
