Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for the verguns. The amount of flour may differ from mine, depending on the moisture of the cottage cheese and the size of the eggs.
- 2
Step 2

Take a deep, convenient container for mixing ingredients. Place the cottage cheese, sugar, and egg into it. Thoroughly mix with a fork, removing lumps and essentially mashing the cottage cheese.
- 3
Step 3

Add the flour, vanilla, baking soda, and baking powder (which is made from baking soda and citric acid).
- 4
Step 4

Knead a not too stiff dough; it should be soft, tender, but not stick to your hands.
- 5
Step 5

Sprinkle the table with a little flour, roll out the dough to a thickness of 5 mm. Cut it into diamonds, squares, or triangles, whichever you prefer. Make a small cut in the center, not too large.
- 6
Step 6

And very carefully turn one edge inside out through the slit. This creates such "verguny."
- 7
Step 7

Heat the frying oil for fritters very well. Carefully place them into the boiling oil and fry until golden brown.
- 8
Step 8

After frying, place the fritters on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- 9
Step 9

The fritters are almost ready. Let them cool completely and dust with powdered sugar.
- 10
Step 10

Remove from the oven and serve warm or cooled.
