Description
Delicious baked treat for the whole family. This tasty and tender cheese-filled pastry is more like a cake than the traditional vatrushka we're used to. The recipe for Hungarian vatrushka is quite simple, yet the result makes it seem as though you've spent at least five hours in the kitchen. Children especially love this vatrushka—it's sweet, attractive, and the cottage cheese in the filling is barely noticeable. A few tips: don't use homemade sour cream for the topping, the condensed milk should be thick, and the cottage cheese should not contain much whey. Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Mix the flour with sugar and baking powder. Then add softened butter and rub everything into crumbs. You can do it by hand or use a potato masher.
- 2
Step 2

Now prepare the filling. Mix cottage cheese, eggs, one cup of sugar, and vanilla sugar. It's best to use 9% fat cottage cheese. The number of eggs depends on their size and the consistency of the cottage cheese. The filling should not be too runny.
- 3
Step 3

We proceed to shape the vatrushka. Take a pan with a diameter of 26-28 cm, line the bottom with parchment paper, and place one-third of the butter-flour mixture. Spread it evenly.
- 4
Step 4

Then we spread half of the cottage cheese filling. Level it out.
- 5
Step 5

Then alternate: one-third of the butter-flour filling, the remaining cottage cheese filling, and the top layer—butter-flour.
- 6
Step 6

Place the vatrushka in the preheated oven to bake. Bake at 180 degrees for about 50-60 minutes. Check for doneness with a wooden skewer or toothpick.
- 7
Step 7

While the vatrushka is baking, prepare the glaze or topping. To do this, mix the sour cream and condensed milk until smooth.
- 8
Step 8

About 5 minutes before the baking time for the vatrushki ends, melt the chocolate.
- 9
Step 9

Take the hot vatrushka out of the oven and pour the mixture of sour cream and condensed milk over it.
- 10
Step 10

Pour the melted chocolate over the filling. You can do this using a piping bag, or simply drizzle it in a thin stream from a spoon.
- 11
Step 11

Then use your imagination and start drawing chocolate patterns with a spoon or a wooden stick.
- 12
Step 12

Let the vatrushka cool down, then remove it from the mold and place it on a rack.
