
Cheese and Herb Vatrushki
Description
Perfect with tea and coffee. This is a fragrant homemade pastry, just like in childhood. Did your grandmothers treat you to cheese and herb vatrushkas? If yes, you'll immediately want to bake them and reminisce about childhood, and if not, you should definitely bake them all the more :) I'll tell you. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

1. The photo shows the ingredients we will need to prepare the enriched yeast dough.

2. Slightly warm the milk and dissolve the yeast in it.

3. Then add salt, sugar, egg and mix until the salt and sugar are completely dissolved.

4. Add the flour. Mix. Add the melted butter and knead the dough.

5. The dough should turn out soft. Cover the dough with a towel and place it in a warm spot for one and a half to two hours.

6. And we will need these ingredients to prepare the filling. And + 1 yolk for brushing the vatrushkas.

7. Grate the cheese on a grater, wash the herbs, dry them, and chop finely.

8. Mix the cottage cheese, 1 egg, grated cheese, and herbs. Season with salt and pepper, then mix until smooth.

9. When the dough has risen, divide it into 10 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball and place on a baking sheet. Let rise for another 15–20 minutes.

10. Then, use a glass to make indentations in the balls and place the filling into them.

11. Beat the yolk and brush the edges of our vatrushkas.

12. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes. Enjoy the vatrushkas immediately, fresh out of the oven.
