Puff pastry vatrushki
Description
You'll need just 30 minutes, provided you have thawed puff pastry. You can use cottage cheese and sour cream of any fat content. Add sugar to taste, or replace it with floral honey if you aren't allergic to it. Don't forget vanilla, cinnamon, and other flavorings. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Defrost the puff pastry 20 minutes before making the vatrushkas. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- 2
Step 2

Beat the chicken egg in a bowl for 1-2 minutes. In another bowl, mix the cottage cheese with sour cream, sugar, and salt.
- 3
Step 3

Divide the whipped egg mixture in half and pour half into the cottage cheese, then mix. Use the remaining portion to brush the vatrushkas.
- 4
Step 4

Place the sheets of dough on a cutting board or work surface and cut out circles using a bowl or cup with a wide rim.
- 5
Step 5

Place the dough circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make a small indentation in the center of each circle using the bottom of a glass or cup, and prick it with a fork. This prevents the dough under the filling from puffing up.
- 6
Step 6

Then brush all the circles with beaten egg using a pastry brush.
- 7
Step 7

Place the cottage cheese filling into the indentations and slightly round it.
- 8
Step 8

Bake the vatrushki in the oven at 180 degrees for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
- 9
Step 9

Serve them warm with fragrant tea, coffee, or lemonade.
