Vatroushki made with rich dough and jam

Description

The recipe won't take much time. I recommend making the most delicious vatrushkas using the dough from the given recipe. The dough is excellent – it's tasty and works well. For the filling, you can use any jam – berry or fruit. The pastry stays fresh for a long time, even if it remains with you. From this amount of dough I got seven vatrushkas. One vatrushka is enough for a serving. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

In a deep bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking soda, and sugar.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Add softened butter and rub it with your hands into crumbs.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

In another bowl, whisk the egg with sour cream.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Combine the dry mixture with the wet one and quickly knead the dough. To prevent the baked goods from turning dense and hard, dough doesn't need to be kneaded for a long time.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Take the dough out of the refrigerator and roll it into a thin sheet 0.3–0.5 cm thick. Using a pastry ring or a small coffee plate, cut out circles. The dough that remains unused should be rolled into a ball and rolled out again into a thin sheet. For half of the dough circles, cut out the center using cookie cutters or a small shot glass.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

On a whole cup of dough, spread the jam and cover it with a ring that has a hole. Finish the edges of the pastries with a pinched “rope” seam.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

And even easier – run a fluted pizza cutter along the edge. Place the pastries on a baking sheet, put them into a preheated oven at 190 °C and bake until golden brown, about 20–25 minutes.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Cool the finished pastries and dust them with powdered sugar.
