
Potato-filled vatrushka

Undoubtedly, many of us know that vatrushkas are usually baked sweet, but there are other variations as well—for example, vatrushka with potatoes, filled with semolina porridge, cheese, and other ingredients. But today we'll focus specifically on vatrushkas filled with potatoes. They're delicious and filling, and can be served with tea or coffee.

1. Warm the milk, dissolve the fresh yeast in it, add a little sugar, and set aside until the yeast activates. Sift the flour into a bowl, pour in the milk with yeast, add vegetable oil. Knead the dough, working it well. Place it in a warm spot and let it rise for about an hour.

2. Boil the potatoes in salted water, mash them, add a little butter, and season with salt if needed. Beat two eggs and mix them into the mashed potatoes. Add a little cumin seed to the filling, as well as dill or parsley (your choice).
