Perfect for the table and with drinks. Cooking shrimp at home is actually quite simple — just follow the instructions in this recipe. Can be served warm or chilled.

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients. Peel the onion and garlic, and wash them together with the dill and lemon.

Step 2

Be sure to rinse the fresh shrimp several times.

Step 3

Pour water into a saucepan, add a slice of onion, a crushed garlic clove, squeeze in half a lemon, and add the zest to the water as well. Add a whole sprig of dill, peppercorns, and salt. For 500 grams of water, I use 1 tablespoon of salt, but for serving with beer, that may not be enough. Simmer the broth over low heat for about 5 minutes.

Transfer the shrimp to the broth, stir gently, and after the water comes to a boil, cook for about 2 minutes. If you are using boiled-frozen shrimp, one minute will be enough for them. Cook large shrimp according to the instructions on the package.

Remove the saucepan from the heat, cover with a lid, and let the shrimp steep in this fragrant salted broth for 10–15 minutes.

Step 6

Drain the shrimp in a colander, discard anything unnecessary, transfer them to a deep, convenient bowl, and enjoy the most delicious appetizer.
