
Cherry dumplings steamed in kefir
Description
The key to any dumplings, regardless of the filling, is good dough. This recipe calls for kefir—and that's a plus! Cherry dumplings made with kefir turn out tender and fluffy. You'll lick your fingers—so delicious!

In a deep bowl, add vegetable oil, kefir, sugar, and salt. Crack an egg into the mixture. Then add flour and mix thoroughly. In a separate bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of flour and baking soda. Stir well and pour onto the countertop. Place the dough onto the flour with baking soda, knead into a smooth, uniform dough, and shape it into a ball. Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.

Pit the cherries.

Roll out the chilled dough and use a cookie cutter (or a simple glass) to make round pancakes.

Place a pot of water on the fire, with the top secured tightly with gauze. Bring the water to a boil.

Place several cherries in the center of each round dumpling and sprinkle with 1 tsp of sugar. Carefully pinch the edges of the dumplings closed. Place the dumplings on a cloth. Cover with a lid and let them cook for 8 minutes. Remove the cooked dumplings with a slotted spoon and generously brush with butter. That's the whole recipe!
