Dumplings with cottage cheese and onion
Description
This recipe won't take much time. The method of making cheese-filled dumplings with onion I'm suggesting is very simple and requires minimal ingredients. This dish will make an excellent option for a hearty breakfast or lunch for the whole family—delicious and nutritious. Be sure to try making these cheese and onion dumplings at home; you won't regret the time spent. 1) Sift flour into a bowl, mix it with salt, and make a small well in the center. Pour water into the well and knead a fairly thick, elastic dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes. 2) While the dough rests, prepare the filling. Place the cottage cheese onto a plate and mash it thoroughly. Finely chop the green onions, add them to the cheese, mix well, and season the filling with salt to taste. 3) Remove the rested dough from the refrigerator and knead it once more. Divide the dough into several portions for easier handling. Roll out each portion into a flat sheet and cut out circles using a cup. 4) Place a spoonful of the cheese filling onto each circle, then tightly seal the edges of the dough. 5) Pour water into a pot, place it over heat, add salt, and bring to a boil. Drop the dumplings into the boiling water, gently stir to prevent sticking to the bottom, and cook for 4–5 minutes after they float to the surface. Serve the dumplings hot with sour cream and butter. Enjoy your meal! Serve warm.
