Description

This recipe won't take much time. In autumn, I usually freeze berries on purpose so that in winter I can make homemade lingonberry vareniki. You can't even imagine how delightful it is to eat a few of these juicy, aromatic dumplings, especially when it's freezing outside. This dish is so tasty and vibrant that it instantly brings back memories of summer and warm days. And considering all the health benefits of the berry filling, this simple lingonberry vareniki recipe is truly priceless. 1) First, we need to prepare the dough. Sift the flour, mix it with salt, and make a small well in the center. Break the egg into the well and start gradually adding water, kneading the dough. Once it becomes soft and elastic, cover it with a towel and let it rest for 20–30 minutes. 2) After that, place the dough on a floured table or other flat surface. Roll it out into a thin layer and cut out circles. Sprinkle a little sugar onto each circle, add some lingonberries, then firmly seal the edges. Make sure the edges are well sealed, as the berry filling may release juice during cooking and cause the vareniki to burst if not properly sealed. 3) The assembled vareniki can be steamed for 6–7 minutes, or boiled in water until cooked through—choose whichever method is more convenient for you. Serve hot.
