Swedish-style jam
Description
Perfect for winter stocks. One of the best berry choices for this jam is strawberries. However, you can also make it with currants, raspberries, or other berries to taste. The main feature of this jam is that it can be stored in the refrigerator. But let’s go through everything step by step. 1. First, wash the berries under running water and let them dry a little. 2. Put the berries in a deep bowl and place over heat. 3. Over medium heat, bring the berries to a boil, then reduce the heat to minimum. Simmer the berries for about 10–15 minutes, trying not to stir them (then homemade Swedish-style jam will have the right consistency). 4. Remove the jam from the heat and add sugar in small portions. Stir gently, trying not to damage the berries. 5. Since the berries are hot, the sugar will dissolve well. 6. After the sugar has fully dissolved, you can transfer the jam into pre-sterilized jars. After cooling, the jar can go into the refrigerator, where the jam can be kept all winter. 7. If desired, this Swedish-style jam recipe can also be used for canning; then after cooling, the jars should be stored in a dark, cool place. Serve at the table or keep in the pantry.
