Apple and Blackcurrant Jam
Description
Homemade preserves keep for a long time. We make apple and black currant jam at home: 1. Wash the apples in cold water, cut into pieces, and let them soak for 20 minutes. Be sure to remove the cores. Run the apples through a meat grinder or chop in a blender. 2. Sort through the black currants and rinse in cold water. Run the fruit through a meat grinder, chop in a blender, or rub through a sieve. 3. Put the apples and currants in one bowl. Add sugar and one cup of water. 4. Mix everything together until you get a uniform pulp. 5. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook for 30 minutes over medium heat. 6. Wait until the cooled jam thickens slightly, then pour it into sterilized jars. 7. To sterilize the jars, hold them in boiling water for 10–15 minutes. 8. Seal the jars (in this case, one jar) and store in a cool place protected from sunlight. The jars keep for up to a year in a cool place.
