Grape Jam for Winter
Description
Perfect for winter pantry stocks. When it comes to jam, everyone can choose ingredients to suit their taste—some prefer to make it from berries, others from fruit—and for those who want to know how to preserve grape jam for winter, I offer this recipe. Grapes are ideal for this purpose; they are very juicy, so jam made from them turns out exceptionally tasty and rich, with a wonderful golden, sunlit color. It keeps well all winter long, and even a small jar of this jam can lift your spirits on the gloomiest day. And since grape season is ahead of us, I recommend that everyone make grape jam for winter at home—believe me, its unusual flavor will not leave you indifferent. Jars keep for up to a year in a cool place.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

First, remove the berries from the stems and rinse them thoroughly under cold water.
- 2
Step 2

Now pour water into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. When the liquid is boiling, place the grapes in a colander and lower them into the boiling water. Keep them in the boiling water for a couple of minutes, then transfer them to a saucepan of cold water.
- 3
Step 3

Then strain the berries in a colander again and let the water drain off.
- 4
Step 4

Now make a syrup from water and sugar, and add the grapes to it. Let it steep for a couple of hours, or even overnight.
- 5
Step 5

In the morning, put a pot on the heat and bring the mixture to a boil; cook for 10 minutes, then remove from the heat and let stand for 6 hours.
- 6
Step 6

Then repeat this procedure two more times: simmer for 10 minutes, remove from heat, and let steep for 6 hours. On the final round, add lemon juice and vanillin to the jam.
- 7
Step 7

Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, seal with lids, turn upside down, and leave to cool.
- 8
Step 8

As I already mentioned, this jam keeps very well, and even at room temperature it will last all winter.
