Dried Fruit Jam in a Multicooker
Description
Actually, this recipe for making dried-fruit jam in a slow cooker is a real lifesaver for me, because I don’t really like chewing dried fruit as they are, but you really need to eat them, especially in winter, so I make jam from them. It’s very easy to make, especially if you have a slow cooker at home, and this treat turns out simply delicious. The dried fruit cooks down and becomes soft, cloves give them a wonderful aroma, and if you add walnuts to the finished jam and serve it with tea, it’s absolutely superb. So if in winter all your healthy preserves suddenly run out, you can always make dried-fruit jam in a slow cooker at home — after all, it couldn’t be easier.
Instructions

Step 1

So, before you begin cooking, soak the dried fruit in water for a couple of hours, or preferably overnight.

Step 2

Then drain the water from the dried fruit, squeeze them dry, and cut into small pieces.

Step 3

Place the chopped dried fruit in the slow cooker bowl. Add the cloves and sugar, then pour in water (1–1½ cups); the water should sit slightly below the level of the dried fruit. Select the “Stew” mode and cook the jam until all the liquid has evaporated — for me this took about an hour. Stir the jam occasionally while it cooks.

Step 4

When no liquid remains and the dried fruit is coated in thick caramel syrup, turn off the multicooker and spoon the hot jam into clean jars, sealing them tightly with lids. This treat is best stored in the refrigerator or another cool place. Enjoy!
