
Ground Blackcurrant Jam
Description

Black currant is perhaps the most popular berry, especially when it comes to home canning, so there are countless recipes using it, and I want to share my version with you and explain how to can ground black currant jam. It is our family’s favorite treat, so we make it every year in large quantities. The main feature of this jam is that the berries must be run through a grinder before cooking; thanks to this step, the jam becomes very thick and smooth. In short, it is incredibly delicious, so I strongly recommend that you make ground black currant jam at home. Jars keep for up to a year in a cool place.

So, clean the berries of debris, stems, and spoiled fruit, rinse them thoroughly under water, and dry the currants.

Now fit the fine grinding plate into the meat grinder and run the partially dried berries through it.

Transfer the berry mixture to a saucepan, add the sugar, and set over low heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

Wash the oranges thoroughly, place them in boiling water, and boil for 10 minutes. Then let them cool and cut them into small pieces.

Then also grind them through a meat grinder with a fine mesh, together with the peel.

Transfer the oranges to the black currants, mix, and bring the mixture to a boil; cook for another 10 minutes. When the time is up, spoon the hot jam into sterilized jars and seal them with lids. In winter, when you crave something tasty, open the jam and enjoy its wonderful flavor.
