Pine Cone Jam
Description
Homemade preserves keep for a long time. There is nothing complicated about making pine cone jam at home. To calculate how much sugar you need, cover the washed cones with cold water so they are submerged by 1–2 cm. Use the same amount of sugar as the liters of water you use (1 L water = 1 kg sugar). Good luck. Store in a cool, dark place.

Step 1

First, carefully sort through the pine cones. Rinse them and discard any spoiled ones. Put the selected pine cones in a deep saucepan and cover with cold water so the cones are submerged by 1–2 cm.

Step 2

Bring to a boil and add the sugar. Use 1 kg of sugar per liter of water. When the sugar has dissolved, bring the jam back to a boil and continue simmering over low heat for 1.5–2 hours, remembering to skim off the foam.

Step 3

The jam’s readiness is very easy to check. The cones should become semi-transparent and take on a reddish tint. Pour the jam into sterilized jars. Store in the refrigerator or in the cellar.
