Rowan berry jam for winter

Description

You can make this jam with apples, or even with pears—the method is the same. Rowan berry jam is certainly quite fiddly, but the result is worth it.

    1. To make rowanberry jam for winter at home, I used fresh berries, but you can also use frozen rowanberries.

    2. Cover the berries with cold water and leave for 24 hours. The next day, drain the water and let the berries dry off a little.

    3. Meanwhile, make a syrup from 1 cup sugar and 3 cups water. Bring it to a boil, then let the syrup cool. Add the rowan berries to the cold mixture and leave for another 24 hours.

    4. The next day, remove the berries with a skimmer and bring the syrup to a boil, then return the rowan berries to the mixture and bring to a boil. Only after that reduce the heat and simmer the jam for about 20 minutes.

    5. That's it — our homemade rowan berry jam for winter is ready. Pour it into jars and seal them with lids. Keep it stored in a cool, dark place.
