Gooseberry Jam with Nuts
Description
1. First, put the gooseberries in a colander and rinse them thoroughly under running water. 2. Pat them dry slightly and trim off the stems with small scissors. 3. Make small cuts with a sharp knife. Use large berries. 4. Shell the walnuts and, depending on the size of the gooseberries, cut them into quarters, for example. 5. Pour water into a small saucepan and add the cherry leaves. 6. Pour water over the berries with the nuts, cover, and leave overnight in the refrigerator. 7. By morning, a fair amount of juice will have formed; carefully drain it into a separate container. Add the sugar and place over heat. 8. After it comes to a boil, simmer the syrup over low heat for about 2 minutes. 9. Add the berries and continue cooking for another 15 minutes or so. 10. When the homemade gooseberry and walnut jam is ready, pour it into clean, pre-sterilized jars. Seal with the lids. After it has cooled completely, store in a dark, cool place. Serve at the table or keep in the pantry.
