Chokecherry Jam Through a Meat Grinder
Description
Homemade preserves keep for a long time. This jam does take some effort, but the result is simply amazing. As you know, pits usually contain the most vitamins and beneficial nutrients. That is why I usually make it using exactly this recipe. Today I decided to share it with you. Serve it at the table or keep it in the pantry.

Step 1

1. For many people, gathering bird cherries is hard work. Indeed, this berry demands special attention. After picking it, everything hurts: your hands, your neck, and your shoulders grow tired, but when you open a jar of this treat in winter, you forget about everything. So, wash our berries thoroughly, removing all debris.

Step 2

2. Now wash thoroughly and let the excess liquid drain off. At first I wash it in a basin, and then in a colander — that’s more reliable.

Step 3

3. Pass through a meat grinder twice, together with the pits. Important! Do not grind the berries in a blender—it is not recommended; use only a meat grinder!

Step 4

4. This is what the mixture should look like (you can add sugar to it and put it in the freezer — it will be ready pie filling). Now we need to put this mixture in a pot and over heat. The more times you run the berries through the meat grinder, the less noticeable the pits will be.

Step 5

5. Put our jam on the heat and cook it as follows: bring to a boil and remove from the heat, let cool, then repeat the procedure 4 more times. It usually takes me up to 7 hours to make bird cherry jam through a meat grinder at home, but in the intervals while it cools I take care of my own business or simply rest. Once it has been cooked through to doneness, pour into jars and turn them upside down, wrapping them well. In the morning you can safely put the treat away in the cellar or pantry.
