Orange and Ginger Jam
Description
Winter preserve made at home. This is a simple recipe for orange and ginger jam. Here is the step-by-step process: 1. Wash the fruit thoroughly, as we will need the zest. Peel the zest from the oranges, leaving out the white pith. 2. Pour boiling water over the zest and let it stand for a few minutes. 3. Cut the oranges into small pieces. Add plenty of sugar and mix well. 4. Drain the zest into a saucepan and leave it there for half an hour. 5. Add the chopped oranges to the saucepan. Bring everything to a boil. 6. When the jam comes to a boil, add the ginger and stir thoroughly. 7. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 40 minutes. The jam is ready when it has thickened. 8. Let the jam cool. Meanwhile, sterilize the jars. 9. Bring the cooled jam to a boil again, then immediately pour it into the jars and seal them. The jam is ready. The jars can be stored for up to a year in a cool place.
