
Vanilla bread
Description
The recipe won't take much time. This vanilla bread should be saved for special occasions. The recipe yields 1 loaf, 22 cm in size.

Step 1

1. Make the dough. In a bowl, use a dough hook to mix 3 1/2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small bowl, combine chopped butter and hot water. Stir until the butter melts completely, then mix in the milk. Beat in the eggs and stir in the vanilla extract. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and mix with a mixer at low speed. Increase the speed and continue mixing until smooth. Once the dough comes together, increase the speed and knead for 10 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is still very sticky after 5 minutes, add additional flour until the dough becomes less sticky.

2. Grease a bowl with oil and place the dough into the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 1/2–2 hours. Once the dough has doubled, punch it down on a work surface and let it rest for 10 minutes. At this point, you can cover the dough and refrigerate it overnight.

3. Place the dough on the work surface and roll it out into a rectangle measuring 30x45 cm. Brush the dough with milk, leaving a 2.5 cm border around the edges. Sprinkle the dough with vanilla sugar.

4. Roll the bread into a log and place it in the loaf pan seam side down. Cover with a clean, dry towel and let it rise until doubled in size for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

5. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Bake the bread for 30-40 minutes. Let it cool completely before serving.
