Waffles with Halva

Description

I hadn't made waffles in a very long time—I had put my waffle maker away on the top shelf, where it had been sitting for ages. But one day, my beloved nephews came to visit me, stopping by for tea. I didn't have any sweets at home except for halva (which the kids didn't particularly like). I really wanted to treat these little sweet tooths, so I decided to make some delicious homemade thick waffles. I had to try to remember how.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

To prepare the waffle batter, we need butter at room temperature, so it should be taken out of the refrigerator in advance. Beat the butter and sugar using a mixer.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Add eggs and cream to the butter one after another, continuing to whisk.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Add the halva to the resulting mixture and mix everything together. I had halva in a chunk, so I grated it on a grater.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

After that, add the sifted flour and baking powder. Beat the resulting dough again with a mixer.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

We've preheated the electric waffle maker, now place 2 full tablespoons of batter plus a little extra in the center. Bake until golden brown, or a bit longer if you prefer crispier waffles. It took me 3 minutes for them to cook through well.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Cool the finished waffles on a rack and place them one by one; do not stack the waffles on top of each other—this way they will stay crisp.

Once the waffles have cooled, you can stack them on a plate. Serve the waffles with tea or coffee, dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with honey. You can also serve them with scoops of ice cream.
