Wafer rolls with chocolate filling
Description
The pastry is prepared simply and quickly. You can make wafer rolls in any waffle iron. The recipe is very simple, but not the only one; every homemaker has her own, and I am sharing my tried-and-tested recipe. You can add nuts, crushed wafer crumbs or cookie crumbs, pieces of freeze-dried berries to the melted chocolate—anything you have on hand, anything you like. Follow the step-by-step recipe and make the wafer rolls to your own taste. This amount of ingredients yielded 17 pieces. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Lightly toast the nuts.
- 3
Step 3

Transfer the toasted nuts to a bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin.
- 4
Step 4

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler over low heat; when heating, the upper saucepan should not touch the water. Remove from the heat as soon as the chocolate melts and becomes fluid. Keep the melted chocolate over hot water.
- 5
Step 5

Beat the eggs with sugar.
- 6
Step 6

Add salt, vanilla sugar, and softened butter to the beaten eggs, then beat again.
- 7
Step 7

Gradually adding the flour, continue beating the batter.
- 8
Step 8

Beat the batter until smooth. Preheat the waffle iron. Place one tablespoon of batter onto the preheated waffle iron surface and bake the waffles until golden brown.

Step 9

Next, you should act quickly, because a cooled wafer will be difficult to roll into a tube. Brush the inner surface of the wafer with melted chocolate, roll it into a tube, dip both ends of the wafer roll in chocolate one after the other, and then in crushed nuts.

Very tasty waffles with a chocolate filling and a nut topping are ready; you can brew tea or coffee.
