Waffle lasagna with chicken
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. The main thing I want to say about it is that it's extremely filling. My husband, who loves hearty and delicious meals, was more than satisfied with this lasagna. The crispy waffles in this lasagna soften and become very tender, yet they don't get too soggy since there's almost no liquid. The entire dish holds together thanks to the cheese, which is layered between each level and also covers the top, resulting in a beautifully golden crust! In my opinion, the filling is very well-balanced: first of all, it's not overly fatty, yet the chicken breast remains moist. Additionally, the bacon adds extra heartiness. The finished dish is ready to be served.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You can buy waffles at the store; they are thin and crispy. You can also make them yourself, in which case they will be thicker and softer. You can use any waffles—either way, they will be delicious!

Step 2

Slice the chicken breast into 4-5 mm thick pieces, you can slightly tenderize the pieces. Mix flour with salt, ground pepper, and garlic powder. Dip the chicken pieces first into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the breadcrumbs.

Step 3

Place the chicken breasts in the hot vegetable oil and cook over medium heat until a golden crust forms. If the heat is too high, the chicken will burn on the outside while remaining undercooked inside; if the heat is too low, the chicken will absorb too much oil. Therefore, medium heat is optimal.

Step 4

Place 2 waffle sheets (if using thin crispy waffles) on the bottom of the baking dish and trim them to fit evenly on the bottom.
- 5
Step 5

On top, place pieces of chicken breast and several slices of previously fried bacon.
- 6
Step 6

Sprinkle everything with grated cheese.
- 7
Step 7

On top — another layer of waffle and the remaining pieces of chicken and bacon.
- 8
Step 8

Sprinkle with grated cheese.

Step 9

Cover again with 2 waffles, press gently so the layers bond well. My pan is not very deep, so the lasagna rises slightly above the edges, but that's not a problem—during baking, the waffles will soften and the lasagna will slightly "settle" down. Bake the lasagna in the oven at 180°C (356°F) for 20–25 minutes.

Step 10

Cut the ready lasagna into portions, and pour each portion with a gentle tomato sauce. Enjoy your meal!
