Description
The pastry is simple and quick to prepare. By reading my recipe, you will learn how. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

1. Prepare the necessary ingredients. Sift the flour a couple of times. Let's get started!
- 2
Step 2

2. Melt the lard in a saucepan. Do not boil—it melts easily at low temperatures.
- 3
Step 3

3. Add sugar and salt to the sifted flour, then pour in the vegetable oil.
- 4
Step 4

4. Dissolve the yeast in warm milk, then pour into the flour.
- 5
Step 5

5. Pour in the melted lard.
- 6
Step 6

6. Knead the dough first with a wooden spoon, then transfer to the work surface.
- 7
Step 7

7. If necessary, add a little flour. Knead the dough thoroughly; it should not be too soft, but avoid making it too stiff either. Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest in a warm place for 40 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

8. After 40 minutes, knead the dough, divide it into 2 parts, shape into two nice balls, and let them rest under a towel for another 30 minutes.
- 9
Step 9

9. After 30 minutes, the dough will have risen slightly; shape it into a flatbread with edges, using your fingers to stretch and form it.
- 10
Step 10

10. Transfer the flatbreads onto parchment paper or a greased baking sheet. Use a checkich (decorative stamp) to create a pattern in the center of each flatbread. I don't have this tool, so I used a cookie cutter to make the pattern. Make notches around the edges with a knife.
- 11
Step 11

11. Brush the flatbreads with water and sprinkle with sesame, flax seeds, or nigella. Preheat the oven to maximum temperature and bake the flatbreads for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
- 12
Step 12

12. Brush the ready-made flatbreads with lard and cover with a towel for 10 minutes. Enjoy!
