Duck stewed with oranges
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. In my opinion, the combination of duck and oranges is simply perfect—they seem made for each other. I enjoy baking duck with oranges, as well as stewing it in a casserole. Today, I decided to stew duck for dinner. I always serve it with mashed potatoes, which is very delicious, but any porridge, pasta, or vegetables would also go well. For cooking duck stewed with oranges, I took half a duck carcass and cut it into 5-6 pieces. You can buy duck already cut into pieces, which might even be cheaper. Here, only half carcasses are sold. The dish is ready to be served.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Rinse the duck thoroughly under running water and remove any remaining feathers, if present.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the duck into roughly equal pieces; I ended up with 6 pieces. Place the duck pieces in a single layer on a frying pan with heated vegetable oil and sear on all sides until golden brown. I fried in two batches to ensure the meat was seared rather than stewed.
- 3
Step 3

Meanwhile, cut the carrot into thick slices and the onion into half-rings.
- 4
Step 4

Thoroughly wash the orange under running water, gently rub it with a clean sponge (using the rough side). Cut the orange into quarter-rings, including the peel.
- 5
Step 5

Place the fried duck in a casserole dish or pot, season with salt and pepper, add the carrots and onions. Pour in enough water to cover the meat and simmer over low heat for 1 hour.
- 6
Step 6

Then add the orange pieces to the casserole and simmer until cooked (30-40 minutes).

Step 7

Duck stewed with oranges is ready. Serve it with the oranges and vegetables it was cooked with, along with your favorite side dish. Enjoy your meal!
