Duck legs with oranges in the oven
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Duck dishes are very popular in many European countries, while we usually cook chicken. I want to suggest making duck legs with oranges in the oven. The poultry meat will turn out aromatic, juicy, and tender. This dish is worthy of a festive table. The process is simple—convince yourself. 1. Mix salt and peppers, rub the mixture into the duck legs, then let them marinate for about 30-40 minutes. 2. Peel the carrot and cut it into long slices. Peel the shallots and cut each bulb in half. 3. Squeeze juice from half of the oranges, and slice the remaining oranges into rounds about 0.7 cm thick. 4. Sear the marinated duck legs on high heat until browned—our goal is also to render out excess fat. 5. Place the duck legs, cut vegetables, and oranges into a baking dish. Add bay leaves and juniper berries. 6. Mix wine and orange juice, then pour this mixture over the duck legs. 7. Cover the dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about one and a half hours. 8. Then remove the foil, increase the oven temperature, and bake for another 10-15 minutes until a nice crust forms. Serve the finished dish hot.
