Pumpkin with lemon and sugar
Description
It's best to use pumpkins with a minimal number of seeds for cooking this dish. The vegetable should smell sweet and be ripe; otherwise, you'll need to add a bit more sugar. You can replace sugar with honey and bake the pumpkin in it, but then the honey will only add sweetness and lose its beneficial properties.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Peel the pumpkin, cut it in half, and remove the seeds. Rinse under water and slice into 1 cm thick slices. Then cut each slice into portion-sized cubes.
- 3
Step 3

Place the sliced pumpkin into a baking dish. Cut the lemon in half. If it has thin skin, remove the seeds and slice half of the fruit, adding the slices to the dish. If it has thick skin, grate the zest into the dish and slice only the pulp, excluding the white layer.

Step 4

Sprinkle everything with granulated sugar on top. Do not add water; the pumpkin will bake in the syrup.
- 5
Step 5

Preheat the oven to 220 degrees. Cover the dish with foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 20 minutes, then remove and carefully take off the foil.
- 6
Step 6

Place the prepared dessert into bowls or saucers, and serve warm or chilled—it's delicious either way.
