Cottage Cheese Stollen with Dates

Description

Tasty pastry for the whole family. Stollen is a traditional German Christmas pastry that, with its shape and white color thanks to powdered sugar, was meant to resemble the infant Christ wrapped in swaddling clothes. The most common stollens have a filling of raisins and candied fruit. This pastry is also popular with poppy seeds, marzipan, and various nuts. Stollen can be made from yeast dough or with baking powder, as in my case, but both versions are heavy, dense dough. Make such a cake for Christmas – it’s very convenient to prepare in advance, since there are many chores before the holiday. Stollen should be wrapped in parchment paper and stored in a cool, dry place The pastry is ready. Serve at the table.
