Braised mackerel
Description
The recipe won't take much time. I accidentally came across this dish from Eastern (most likely Korean) cuisine when I no longer knew how else to cook mackerel. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the vegetables.
- 2
Step 2

Clean the mackerel and cut into portion-sized pieces.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the daikon into small cubes, place it in a pot. Put the fish on top of the daikon.
- 4
Step 4

Grind the garlic and ginger, mix with soy sauce, then add red chili pepper and sugar. Mix well and pour the mixture over the fish in the cauldron.
- 5
Step 5

Pour a glass or more of water into the cauldron. The water should cover both the fish and the daikon. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat and cook for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, chop the red pepper, green pepper, and onion.
- 6
Step 6

After 20 minutes, add the remaining vegetables. It is important to occasionally pour the broth over the fish while stewing. Cook until the daikon is completely tender.
- 7
Step 7

You can serve the ready stewed mackerel with rice.
