Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. This stewed fish can be served as a hot dish, or as a cold appetizer with a hot side dish: mashed potatoes, boiled pasta, or rice. Don't forget to generously pour sauce over the fish when serving. The finished dish can now be served.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

In a large saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and add finely chopped onion. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, until the onion becomes soft and golden. Add 1 minced garlic clove, tomato paste, and continue cooking for 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the tomato sauce darkens.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Add 2 cups of vegetable broth and spices. Bring to a boil, then cover with a lid, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes.

    Step 3

Meanwhile, wash the fish and dry with paper towels. In a bowl, mix 2/3 cup flour, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp pepper. Place a large pot over medium heat with 1/4 cup oil. Once the oil is hot, quickly dip the fish in the flour mixture and place it into the hot oil. Fry for 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

    Step 4

Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of capers, and 1 tablespoon of honey to the sauce, and mix well. Add the fish and simmer for about 5 minutes, turning once. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve hot or cold. The dish can be stored in the refrigerator for 2–3 days.
