Braised sauerkraut with meat
Description
Who doesn't love eating stewed sauerkraut with meat? I think everyone will enjoy this dish without exception! Delicious and very juicy, it will always be a wonderful addition to any side dish—whether it's porridge, potatoes, or pasta! I recommend cooking it either entirely from sauerkraut, or using a mix of sauerkraut and fresh cabbage—fresh cabbage will take longer to cook, but the dish will turn out more tender and delicate in flavor. Try it yourself!

Step 1

1. First, sauté the chopped onion in vegetable oil. Add the meat pieces and cook until the liquid is released and evaporated. Add spices to taste.

Step 2

2. Now add the cabbage — first the sauerkraut and sour cabbage, so it warms up slightly and releases its juice, then place the fresh cabbage on top. Simmer covered until the cabbage softens and settles down — about 20 minutes.

Step 3

3. Now add the chopped tomatoes or tomato paste, spices, bay leaf, and vegetable oil. Simmer for another 20 minutes, until the cabbage becomes tender.

Step 4

4. To prevent burning, you can periodically add a little water or broth throughout the cooking process. This is what the finished dish will look like.
