Braised cabbage with sausages
Description
The recipe won't take much time. The stewed cabbage turns out very tasty and much more filling when cooked with sausages. You can use any kind: hunter's, homemade, or Bavarian sausages. They give the ordinary cabbage a slight smoky aroma, and the dish immediately takes on a whole new flavor. You can serve this cabbage as a main dish or with any side dish. And it's very easy to prepare—this recipe shows you how. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan. Add peeled and finely chopped onion. Sauté until lightly golden.
- 2
Step 2

Slice the sausages into rounds. Add to the onion and fry for 2-3 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Finely shred the cabbage, sprinkle with salt, and knead it — it will soften and release juice.

Step 4

Add the cabbage to the pan with the onions and sausages. Mix, add a couple of tablespoons of water. Reduce the heat, cover the skillet with a lid, and simmer the cabbage for about 15 minutes.

Step 5

Now add the tomato paste. If the cabbage has a lot of juice, there's no need to dilute the paste. If there's little juice, add a bit of water. Add pepper and bay leaf. Mix well and simmer for another 30 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
