Braised cabbage in a pan
Description
Stewed cabbage is a taste of childhood, the taste of a canteen. Only at home it turns out much more delicious! You can stew cabbage with potatoes or meat, but I like it best on its own. You can add more vegetables if you wish. To prepare stewed cabbage in a skillet, we'll need a medium cabbage head, a pack of tomato paste, fresh string beans (though frozen ones will work too), onion, and carrot.
Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the carrots into quarters or also into half-rings.
- 4
Step 4

If the string beans are long, cut them in half so the pieces are not too large.
- 5
Step 5

Heat a skillet and add a little vegetable oil, first sauté the onion. Then add the carrots. After about 5 minutes, add the green beans. Sauté until partially cooked.
- 6
Step 6

Shred the cabbage.
- 7
Step 7

Add the cabbage to the vegetables in the pan, pour in a little more vegetable oil. Fry until it releases its juice.
- 8
Step 8

Then reduce the heat, add tomato paste, bay leaf, and pepper. Season with salt to taste.
- 9
Step 9

If necessary, you can add water to the cabbage if it becomes too firm and starts to burn. Chop the herbs.
- 10
