
Tula gingerbread
Description

Take a saucepan or a skillet, place it on the stove over a water bath, and add sugar, butter, eggs, cinnamon, baking soda, and honey. Melt all the ingredients until the mixture becomes smooth. Stir occasionally.

Remove the saucepan from the double boiler and begin adding flour in portions. Then place the dough onto the work surface.

Knead the dough, gradually adding flour to it. The dough should be firm and not sticky to the hands. Then divide the dough into two equal parts.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out each piece of dough into sheets about six millimeters thick. Then place one sheet on the parchment and spread jam on it.

Cover the jam layer with the second rolled piece of dough, seal the edges as tightly as possible, pressing them with a fork. Bake the gingerbread for thirty minutes in the oven at 180 degrees.

While the gingerbread is baking, prepare the icing. Place powdered sugar into a small bowl, add a little boiling water, and mix. Spread the icing over the cooled gingerbread.
