
Three-color bread with natural food coloring
Description
The recipe won't take much time. It's one of the most interesting bread recipes, as it requires the use of natural food colorings: turmeric, pumpkin, paprika, pepper, and spinach. The resulting bread turns out beautifully colored and aromatic (thanks to the spices). You can let your imagination run wild and shape the bread in various forms. Moreover, children especially enjoy this bread because of its appealing appearance. Serve it cooled or slightly warm.

Step 1

1. To make green-colored dough, wash and dry the spinach, then blend it with 60 ml of water and 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Sift 200 g of flour, add 0.5 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of sugar, and 0.5 tsp of yeast. Add the green puree and knead the dough. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest for an hour.

2. For red dough, place the pepper in boiling water for 2-5 minutes (depending on whether it's fresh or frozen). Blend it with 60 ml of water and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sift 200 g of flour, then add 0.5 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of sugar, 0.5 tsp of yeast, and paprika. Add the red pepper puree and knead the dough. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest for one hour.

3. For yellow dough, blend stewed pumpkin with 60 ml of water and 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a blender until smooth. Sift 400-500 g of flour, add 0.5 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of sugar, 0.5 tsp of yeast, and turmeric. Add the yellow puree and knead the dough. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest for an hour.

4. When the dough has risen, roll each piece into a long sausage shape. Place them on parchment paper and braid them (but not too tightly). Cover the braid with a towel for 20–30 minutes. Once the dough has risen, brush it with water using a brush, then sprinkle with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds.

5. Place the bread in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Check for doneness with a wooden skewer: it should come out dry.
