Puff pastry apple tubes
Description
Homemade pastries for tea. Tart-sweet apples work best; if they are very juicy, you can add a little starch to the filling. You can use either yeast puff pastry or non-yeast puff pastry. If you like, you can swap the sesame seeds for chopped nuts or poppy seeds.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all necessary ingredients for making apple-filled puff pastry horns. Take the puff pastry out ahead of time so it can thaw. Wash and dry the apples.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the apples into thin matchsticks, removing the cores. Put the butter in a frying pan and melt it, then add the sliced apples.
- 3
Step 3

Add sugar to the apples and mix.
- 4
Step 4

Sauté the apples over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring. Remove from the heat and let cool.
- 5
Step 5

Dust your work surface lightly with flour and roll out the dough to a thickness of 0.5 centimetres. Cut the dough into six rectangles.
- 6
Step 6

Spread the apple filling along one edge of each square. Roll into a tube.
- 7
Step 7

Arrange the pastry tubes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with strong sweet tea and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- 8
Step 8

Bake the pastry tubes in a hot oven at 180 °C for 20–30 minutes. When the time is up, take out the baking sheet with the pastries and let them cool.
