Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Sift 300 grams of flour into a bowl, add salt, bring the water to a boil, and pour vegetable oil into the boiling water.
- 3
Step 3

Add boiling water with vegetable oil to the flour with salt.
- 4
Step 4

Knead the dough; it should be very soft and pliable. Dust the work surface with the remaining flour and fold some flour into the dough, reserving a little more for further handling.
- 5
Step 5

Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces weighing about 40 g.
- 6
Step 6

Roll out the dough into a flatbread the size of a tea saucer, and spread jam on one end.
- 7
Step 7

Fold the edges of the dough toward the center and roll the dough into a tube.
- 8
Step 8

Place the dough on a baking sheet and brush the tubes on top with the remaining vegetable oil.
- 9
Step 9

Sprinkle the tubes with poppy seeds on top, or you can simply dip them in poppy seeds to achieve an even coating.
- 10
Step 10

Bake the tubes for 25–30 minutes at 180 °C; there won’t be an overly golden crust because the dough is lean and contains no sugar.
- 11
Step 11

Place the jam‑filled tubes on a plate and invite everyone to have tea.
- 12
Step 12

The tubes turn out very tasty, carrot jam is perfect for this purpose, as it doesn’t leak during baking, and it’s very delicious.
