Cut the fish into large pieces, season with salt and pepper.

Sift the flour into a bowl together with the baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Gradually start adding water and knead a thick dough.

Coat the piece of fish in flour.

And then dip into the batter.

Immediately place the fish into the oil heated over medium heat (180 degrees). Fry on both sides until a golden crust forms (about 7 minutes per side). Transfer the fried fish onto a paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve with french fries and sauce.
