Cod under Polish sauce

60 min4 serv.19 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Cod is delicious on its own—moderately fatty, boneless, and suitable for frying or baking. Today I chose baking. To prepare cod with Polish sauce, I use fish fillets, thawed in advance, juice from half a lemon, horseradish root, and a sour apple. I'm not sure why the sauce is called Polish, but the main thing is that the fish turns out very tasty. The finished dish can be served at the table.

Instructions

    Step 1

Rinse the fish, cut into portion-sized pieces, season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with lemon juice. Then place in a baking dish, putting a small slice of butter both on top and underneath each piece. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 10–15 minutes.

Then take eggs and prepare a simple omelet (without milk). Let the cooked omelet cool down, then slice it into thin strips.

Remove the cod from the oven, first place strips of egg on top, then spoon the apple-horseradish sauce over it. Return to the oven for 20 minutes.

The bitterness of horseradish will disappear during baking, while the apples will add aroma and a pleasant tanginess.

This is what the finished cod in Polish sauce looks like. Serve with tomatoes, potatoes, and other vegetables.
