Ham and Cheese Toasts
Description
Suitable for both special occasions and everyday meals. You can use any type of ham and cheese to your liking. To make the toasts hearty, fry the bread dipped in egg on both sides, and place cheese and ham in the middle of the toasts. Choose processed cheese — it melts perfectly on a hot toast. You can complement the dish with pickled or salted cucumbers, fresh tomatoes, olives, and capers. Serve with fresh herbs and sauce.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Buy sliced ham and processed cheese in squares (individual portions). Toast bread works best—it is the perfect shape and already sliced.
- 2
Step 2

Crack the chicken eggs into a deep container—a bowl or a shallow dish—and add the seasoning. Beat with a fork or a whisk for 2–3 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Place a slice of toast bread in the dish and dip it on all sides. Then treat the remaining bread slices the same way, but fry them one at a time.
- 4
Step 4

Heat half of the vegetable oil in a skillet and add the bread. Fry over medium heat for 1–2 minutes, then flip to the other side. After flipping, dip a new slice of bread in the egg mixture.
- 5
Step 5

Fry the bread on the other side for another 1–2 minutes and transfer to a plate. Fry the remaining slices the same way.
- 6
Step 6

Immediately place a round slice of ham and a square of cheese on the hot toast. To make it hang over the edges, arrange the cheese in a diamond shape. At this stage, you can add slices of cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.
- 7
Step 7

Join two slices of toast together so the ham and cheese are inside. Prepare the remaining toasts the same way.
- 8
Step 8

Cut them diagonally on a board with a sharp knife and serve warm. Don't forget aromatic drinks: tea, coffee, cocoa, latte, etc. Enjoy your meal!
