Tortilla in the Air Fryer
Description
A delicious appetizer for any gathering. You can make tortilla in an air fryer quickly and easily — a great alternative to tired old sandwiches, and also a wonderful way to diversify your everyday meals. Spanish flatbreads pair well with any filling; today I'll share one of my favorites. It will taste even better if you use mozzarella or suluguni for the filling, but any other cheese that melts well will work too. I highly recommend adding plenty of fresh herbs — they give an incredible aroma — and any cottage cheese fat content you prefer will do. I'm sure you'll love it! You can also make tortillas the same way in a skillet, frying them on both sides in vegetable oil, or bake them in the oven, brushing with egg yolk for browning. Serve with fresh herbs and sauce.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients listed. You can use cottage cheese of any fat content. Any cheese that melts well will work. For herbs, I use parsley, onion, and dill.
- 2
Step 2

Transfer the cottage cheese to a deep bowl. Mash with a fork to break up any large lumps.
- 3
Step 3

Add grated cheese.
- 4
Step 4

Wash the herbs, pat dry, and chop with a knife. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- 5
Step 5

Mix well. The filling is ready.
- 6
Step 6

Place the filling on half of the flatbread, dividing it in half.
- 7
Step 7

Fold in half, covering the filling with the free side. Repeat the same procedure with the second flatbread.
- 8
Step 8

Place the flatbread in the air fryer basket; I also line it with parchment paper. I can’t fit two at once, so I cook each portion separately. If you want to make two tortillas at the same time, you can trim the flatbread to fit your basket beforehand.

Step 9

Set the air fryer to 170-180 degrees; cooking time is 7-10 minutes. Cooking time will depend on the power of the appliance. At around the 5-minute mark, you can flip the flatbread so the other side becomes crispy as well.

Step 10

The tortilla in the air fryer is ready. The filling has heated through and the cheese has melted. If you want the flatbread to be more golden brown, you can brush it with melted butter before cooking. You can also sprinkle extra cheese on top of the tortilla. It tastes best served hot. I cut it into triangles.
