Description
The recipe won't take much time. Prepare and bake the cake batter according to the package instructions for 9 layers. Let cool. In a bowl, mix butter and shortening. Add sugar, vanilla, salt, and enough milk to achieve a spreadable consistency. Place 1/4 cup of frosting into each of three small bowls; color one blue, one yellow, and one green. Set aside 2 1/4 cups of the remaining frosting for decoration. Use the rest of the frosting to cover the cake layers, top, and sides. For decoration, put the reserved white frosting into a piping bag. Using various tips, decorate the cake. Use the colored frostings to create flowers, leaves, etc. Serve with tea or coffee.
