Cake

Description

Delicious baked treat for the whole family. For making the "Pirate" cake, you can use ready-made thin sponge cake layers and any favorite cream for spreading (I usually make a custard cream with nuts, which nicely soaks the layers). If desired, you can also add something to soak the layers (such as brandy, for example), if the cake is not intended for children. I buy ready-made fondant, which often comes in various colors. This makes the process much faster and more convenient. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

If you baked the sponge cake layers yourself, let them cool. Then cut each layer in half horizontally, resulting in 4 layers. Cut three of them into the shape resembling an iron. Spread with the prepared cream and assemble.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Cut the last cake layer into three rectangles, as shown in the photo. Use one rectangle as the main body of the ship. Place the other two rectangles on the wide part of the base, spreading cream in between. These will form the back part of the ship.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Place the last rectangle on the narrow part, spreading cream on it. To secure the ship, take cocktail sticks (or wooden skewers for kebabs), and fasten them in two places as shown in the photo, so that the small rectangles attach firmly to the base.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Dilute the icing or melt the chocolate (you can use chocolate custard if you prefer), and thoroughly coat the boat on all sides.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

I had a little cream left, so I added blue food coloring to it and made a "sea" under the boat (just spread it in "waves" on the plate beneath the cake).

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Place the cake in the refrigerator to let it soak, and in the meantime, work on the fondant decorations. Let your imagination and available time guide you. Using food coloring, you can create various "pirate-themed" decorations. Cut out skulls and bones from white fondant, and make lifebuoys using red food coloring. Shape cannons from black fondant and attach them to toothpicks, as shown in the photo.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Slide the wafer rolls onto wooden sticks to create masts. Attach all decorations to the cake. If they are not too large or heavy, moisten them with water and stick them onto the ship. For larger decorations, use toothpicks. Use colored fondant to make railings. Cut sails from black paper, draw skulls on them, and slide them onto the wafer rolls.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

You can serve the finished "Pirate" cake immediately, or you can keep it in the refrigerator for a while to let it soak.
