Description

The recipe won't take much time. You'll definitely like the recipe for the "Maya the Bee" cake—after all, who wouldn't want to be a kind fairy for their kids? I don't have children of my own yet, so I presented it at my friend's daughter's first birthday. Of course, sweets aren't suitable for little ones yet, but we adults thoroughly enjoyed devouring the cake! Working with fondant is a really interesting experience—do give it a try!

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    1. If needed, bake the sponge cakes and let them cool. Cut out a rough template of a bee from paper. Place it on the first cake layer and trim the cake to match the shape. Do not discard the trimmings. Repeat this process three times, stacking the pieces on top of each other and spreading cream between them.

    2. Process the trimmings in a blender, adding sour cream or cream to create a paste-like consistency. Use this mixture to shape the three-dimensional parts: the belly, smooth the transition to the wings, etc. In short, perfect the bee.

  3. 3

    3. This is approximately what the prepared bee looks like. Generously coat it with cream after you've attached all the parts.

    4. Use food coloring to dye a large piece of fondant yellow. Wrap the bee with the fondant. Save the leftover yellow fondant to make hair. Color part of the fondant black and create stripes on the body. Use the remaining pieces to shape eyes, nose, and mouth, then color them accordingly.
